Surprise, surprise! The world just got a little faster. In other news, water is wet, grass is green, and you still didn't win the lottery.
According to the latest State of the Internet report, Akamai has discovered this "quickening" trend in their fourth quarter analysis of internet speed around the globe.
What did they find? For starters, a 20% increase in overall speed from last year, up to 4.5 Mbps in the fourth quarter. South Korea has the world's fastest Internet broadband, with a connection speed of 22.2 Mbps.
The study also finds that more countries are using high-broadband penetrations, with an increase of 25% in the past year. This further proves that regions that may not have previously had great Internet access are increasing their broadband to accommodate their new users.
With continuing increases in Internet speed, it will take merely seconds to determine that you'll need to buy another ticket into next week's lottery drawing.
