Entuity offers a distributed licensing model that lets you dynamically allocate licenses across multiple servers

Licensing creates some major headaches for network managers, so I wasn’t surprised to read in a recent SearchNetworking article that “simplified licensing and billing” made the IT wish list for 2015. In the network management space, frustrations revolve around which licensing model to buy (e.g., by device, object, etc.), controlling the price of licenses, and finally, deploying and administering them.

Entuity’s licensing approach addresses all three areas, emphasizing ease and customization. Here I’ll focus on deployment and administration. (You can read about our attitude toward pricing here.)

The Entuity Central Licensing Server
Entuity offers a distributed licensing model that lets you dynamically allocate licenses across multiple servers from a central server so you can use those licenses exactly where and when you need them. This gives you complete control and flexibility over how to distribute licenses.

For example, you may have three servers but the licenses available to each may not reflect the current loading on those servers. Using Entuity’s central licensing server you can easily reallocate the licenses in a way that makes sense at that moment. You don’t have to waste time coming back to us for device license changes, and you don’t have to reboot the server to reallocate licenses so you never ever (ever) lose coverage.

Plus, Entuity runs on physical or virtual servers, which means you can quickly spawn a new server whenever you need it.

Using serverless computing has a number of obvious benefits over traditional application infrastructure - you pay only for what you use, scale up or down immediately to match supply with demand, and avoid operating any server infrastructure at all. However, implementing maintainable and scalable applications using serverless computing services like AWS Lambda poses a number of challenges.
