Frost & Sullivan Bestows Enabling Technology Leadership Award on Bayshore Networks for its Content-Aware Security Platform for the Industrial Internet of Things Market

- The company's innovative spirit and ability to stay in tune with market needs have accounted for its success

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of content-aware security platforms for the industrial Internet of Things market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Bayshore Networks with the 2014 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for Enabling Technology Leadership. Bayshore Networks offers a unified cybersecurity platform that helps end users set policies to prevent cyber attacks against vital industrial control systems (ICSs) for critical infrastructure.

Bayshore Networks adopted the successful application-centric cybersecurity design concept used for enterprise networks and customized it to suit industrial networks. Subsequently, the company has been able to offer a software-defined, networking-based control facility over the network infrastructure, which aids in deploying operational and security policy.

"Bayshore Networks is dedicated to building next-generation firewall technology designed to detect and block advanced threats in order to secure mission-critical assets," said Frost & Sullivan Senior Industry Analyst Naveen Kumar Ramasamy. "This commitment to innovation shows through in its existing suite of content and context-aware security solutions that allows end users to implement layer-7 application firewalls that are intuitive and possess heuristic learning capabilities to evolve against new threats."

As such, innovation is woven into the fabric of Bayshore Networks' operations. The top management's involvement in the innovation process as well as the company's research and product development processes, strategic partnerships, and affiliations with organizations such as Industrial Internet Consortium demonstrate this.

Bayshore Networks' security solutions can be used in diverse applications. Distinctively, the company offers high-speed appliances separately for enterprise security (Bayshore SE) and industrial control environments (Bayshore IC), with an extensible policy enforcement feature via Pallaton, Bayshore's extensive policy framework technology. Typically, these appliances plug into a network switch to view all files traversing the network and inspect the content of these files.

Pallaton narrows down the malware sophistication gap through a powerful proxy-based policy expression language that is embedded in the appliance itself. This creates content-based rules and enforces policies at a line rate of more than 10 gigabits per second—aspects of the solution that make it unique in the industrial control system (ICS) market.

"As a result of its technology prowess and customer-centric innovation, Bayshore Networks has demonstrated success in recent years," noted Naveen Kumar. "This is reflected in the company's impressive client base, which includes Fortune 100 manufacturing companies."

The Enabling Technology Award is presented to the company that has excelled in enabling the creation of new products and applications and/or has enhanced current products. Potential for market acceptance and breadth of access to technology are other criterion in which the company is seen to have excelled.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
