Meru Introduces Industry's First OpenFlow-Enabled SDN Solution for Microsoft Lync

Meru Collaborator Ensures Predictable Quality of Service Across Unified Wired and Wireless Networks

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/10/14 -- Meru Networks® (NASDAQ: MERU), a leader in intelligent Wi-Fi networking and the only wireless LAN vendor to have received OpenFlow™ conformance, today announced Meru Collaborator for ensuring predictable experience for Microsoft Lync® users. Meru Collaborator enables Meru Wi-Fi users to optimize the performance and experience of Microsoft Lync over multivendor networks. The solution is built on top of an OpenDaylight software-defined networking (SDN) controller designed to work with any OpenFlow-enabled wired or wireless network and greatly simplifies the cost and complexity of managing unified communications.

"Meru is on the forefront of SDN by OpenFlow-enabling access networks, increasing IT departments' speed and agility and eliminating vendor lock-in," said Pascal Menezes, Lync principal program manager at Microsoft.

"Meru Collaborator provides the ability to detect quality of service (QoS) issues on the network, deliver prescriptive resolution options and prioritize traffic across OpenFlow-enabled multi-vendor wired and wireless networks," said Ajay Malik, senior vice president of engineering and products at Meru. "Our combined expertise and experience positions us well for success in development of this industry-leading, cross-platform solution."

"Large enterprises, financial institutions and universities are increasingly offering Lync to their employees and students as a primary means of communication and collaboration," said Sarosh Vesuna, vice president and general manager of business units at Meru. "Meru SDN-enabled Wi-Fi will empower IT organizations to become more responsive to the needs of the business and ensure the highest quality experiences for their users."

Meru is the only Wi-Fi vendor to have received Open Networking Foundation (ONF) conformance for its wireless solutions.
