BTI Systems' Momentum Fuels Expansion in Europe

Appoints Senior Vice President EMEA Sales and Joins Euro-IX; Executives Speaking at Upcoming European Events

OTTAWA, ON and BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/12/14 -- BTI Systems, an award-winning provider of cloud and metro networking software and systems to content, colocation and service providers around the world, today announced the appointment of industry veteran James Clegg as senior vice president of EMEA sales.

As part of the company's expansion in Europe, BTI also announced it has joined the Euro-IX (European Internet Exchange Association) and will be participating in key industry events including the Euro-IX Forum in Bucharest, Romania to be held October 26-28 and the Layer123 SDN & OpenFlow World Congress in Düsseldorf, Germany to be held October 14-17.

Clegg brings significant executive-level sales and management experience to his new role. Highly regarded for an outstanding track record of consistently driving growth within the service provider, and data center, cloud and enterprise sectors, he has helped market leaders such as Sun Microsystems, Crossbeam Systems, Arbor Networks and Bay Networks substantially scale their European operations.

Last month, BTI announced that Interxion (NYSE: INXN) -- one of Europe's top colocation providers -- is deploying BTI's Cloud Networking Solution to enable Interxion's new Cloud Connect Platform.

"Europe leads the world in many key industry trends, especially with regard to leveraging Internet Exchanges and fueling better connectivity between enterprises and cloud service providers through innovative platforms and partnerships," said BTI Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales Tim Pillow. "The region has always played an important role in our global momentum. With James Clegg on board and demand for our Cloud Networking and Data Center Interconnect Solutions expanding dramatically, we look forward to sharing even more successes with our customers and partners in the region."

As content moves closer to end users to support speed, latency and quality expectations, metro traffic is expected to grow significantly over the next several years. Specifically, in Western Europe, metro traffic is expected to grow 26 percent CAGR between 2013 and 2018, and 40 percent in Central and Eastern Europe in the same time period (Cisco's VNI report). Internet Exchange points enable Internet traffic to reach local network infrastructures, delivering content to local users more quickly. Internet Exchanges (IXs) and content providers often share space in data centers and colocation sites, driving the number of sites, bandwidth and connections up dramatically. BTI's Intelligent Cloud Connect architecture enables content providers, colocation providers and IX members to optimize their networks for faster service creation, rapid content delivery and improved end-user satisfaction. Intelligent Cloud Connect is an open, software-driven converged networking platform that combines the intelligence and flexibility of routing and network applications with massive optical capacity and scale.

Euro-IX is an association that promotes an open interchange of ideas and experiences, gained to mutual advantage of the members, by sharing information through meetings and online resources. In addition to joining as a member, BTI will be participating in the Euro-IX Forum on Wednesday, October 29, with Dr. Robert Keys, CTO speaking. Additionally, BTI Director of Product Management for Cloud Applications Julius Francis will be speaking on Thursday, October 16 at 4:35 pm CEST at the Layer123 SDN & OpenFlow World Congress on "Re-imagining Dynamic Intelligent Cloud Networks."
