Pluribus Networks, the company that brings together compute, network, storage, and virtualization into a single, open and programmable SDN platform, will participate in the HostingCon conference, taking place in Miami Beach, June 16-18, 2014. At the conference, the company will demonstrate its open “cloud-in-a-rack,” a combination of the Supermicro MicroBlade platform switching blades with the Pluribus Netvisor network operating system and its Freedom F Series that operates as an OpenStack-based cloud controller, managing servers, storage, virtual machines and other switches.
Enterprises, scale-out data centers, cloud service providers and even SMBs can now take advantage of Supermicro’s server and switch expertise, combined with the Pluribus Netvisor network operating system, maximizing performance per watt, per dollar, and per square foot. The optional addition of OpenStack includes a set of orchestration capabilities for IT and service provider cloud deployments along with the advantages that a converged infrastructure brings.
The company also announced that this week, Robert Drost, its co-founder and COO, will be presenting a session on “SDN and Network Virtualization 101 for the Clouds” in the “Software Defined Data Center and Enterprise Cloud Stories” track at Cloud Expo, taking place in New York City, on June 10 at 1:55 p.m. local time. The session will explain why network virtualization is the final frontier – after storage and servers - to conquer for high-utilization and high-performance clouds. 2013 was the year of SDN’s debut, but in this talk, Drost will look at SDN’s relevant server-centric comparison for network virtualization (NV) whether it operates like a server Type-I hypervisor (Bare Metal) or Type-II (Hosted). He will explain how Openstack, OpenDaylight, Openflow, Cisco ONE, VMware NSX, and others compare and work with server hypervisors and how to incorporate network virtualization to improve analytics, compliance, management, scalability, reliability, cloud bursting and billing features.
About Pluribus Networks
Pluribus Networks delivers the industry’s first and only bare-metal, distributed network hypervisor operating system, Netvisor, for the convergence of compute, network, storage and virtualization based on open compute and open networking technologies, enabling a new class of highly-programmable network-aware applications and services. The Pluribus Freedom architecture allows cloud operators and enterprises to better support application performance SLAs while reducing OPEX and CAPEX and accelerating service deployment velocity.
