Connectem CEO Nishi Kant to Speak at Mobile World Congress 2014

'Building the Future Network,' MWC Auditorium 5, Hall 4, Monday, February 24 at 4.00 p.m.

SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/13/14 -- Nish Kant, CEO and co-founder of network functions virtualization (NFV) startup Connectem, will participate as a panelist at the 'Building the Future Network' plenary session at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, 2014. The session, which also includes senior executives from AT&T, Deutsche Telecom, Ciena, Huawei, Nokia Siemens and TM Forum, will take place on Monday, February 24 from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. in Hall 4, Auditorium 5. The event will be moderated by Emin Gurdenli, chairman of Azenby, who was previously CTO of T-Mobile UK.

'Building the Future Network' will discuss the characteristics of the ideal future network, which is envisaged as a converged, access-agnostic, IP-based network based on principles of virtualization and SDN. It will incorporate more flexible, real-time OSS and BSS and be capable of smarter, more personalized and contextual services.

Connectem has been engaged with mobile operators worldwide since launch in late 2012 with its virtualized, software-based network functions solution. Nishi Kant will draw on his company's experience with operators to discuss innovative core network options for mobile broadband operators and examine some of the technical challenges and priorities of moving to a virtualized environment.

"We have demonstrated in multiple trials in different countries, some of which were in real production networks, that NFV is not vaporware and can deliver tangible benefits to operator efficiency and cost containment," said Kant. "Virtualization is a new building block in the mobile operator's strategic arsenal. It expands the capabilities of existing infrastructure to enable more rapid adoption of new services and business models, and has already become a significant driver in the development of next-generation networks. Connectem's VCM delivers exceptional results in terms of functionality, availability and performance."

Connectem developed the first ever instance of a Virtualized LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) with unique architectural attributes that leverages modern datacenter tools to deliver unprecedented scale, availability and performance using low cost x86 servers.

Connectem will exhibit at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in 2014 in conjunction with Cyan, Intel, IBM and other industry partners. More information is available at www.connectem.net.

Everyone wants the rainbow - reduced IT costs, scalability, continuity, flexibility, manageability, and innovation. But in order to get to that collaboration rainbow, you need the cloud! In this presentation, we'll cover three areas: First - the rainbow of benefits from cloud collaboration. There are many different reasons why more and more companies and institutions are moving to the cloud. Benefits include: cost savings (reducing on-prem infrastructure, reducing data center foot print, reducing IT support costs), enabling growth (ensuring a highly available, highly scalable infrastructure), increasing employee access & engagement (by having collaboration tools that are usable and available globally regardless of location there will be an increased connectedness amongst teams and individuals that will help increase both efficiency and productivity.)
