Three New Companies Join the Broadband Forum Board of Directors

Annual Meeting highlights new technical specifications, awards leadership excellence and welcomes new members

SAN ANTONIO, March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Broadcom's Technical Director, Lowell D. Lamb, Deutsche Telekom's International Standardization Expert, Manuel Paul, and Huawei's Director of Access Standards, Les Brown, have been elected to the Broadband Forum's Board of Directors during the quarterly meeting in San Antonio, Texas. The three bring a wealth of industry knowledge, and provide expertise to support some of the key architecture and new service requirement work, such as FTTdp, Cloud and SDN.

In addition to these new Board members, Sultan Dawood of Cisco Systems was elected Marketing Chair, Christophe Alter of France Telecom-Orange won re-election as Technical Chair and Tom Starr of AT&T was re-elected to the Board. The 2013 officers include Tom Starr (AT&T) as Chairman, Kevin Foster (BT) as President, Frank Van der Putten (Alcatel-Lucent) as Treasurer, David Sinicrope (Ericsson) as Secretary, and Andrew Malis (Verizon Communications) and Marcin Drzymala (France Telecom-Orange) as Vice Presidents.

Some significant pieces of work were also completed and approved at the meeting. This included updates to five documents and the release of the Technical Report 255 (TR-255), a test plan designed to verify interoperability between network OLTs and BBF.247 certified ONUs.

The quarterly meeting provided the opportunity as well for the Forum to recognize key individuals at its awards ceremony. The Circle of Excellence award was presented to Vincent Buchoux from LAN, who was recognized for his outstanding contributions to developing the Broadband Forum BBF.247 Certification Program and TR-255 Interoperability Program.

The Leadership award was presented to three individuals who have dedicated their time to leadership positions within the Broadband Forum: Greg Bathrick, outgoing Board Member and Broadband Home Working Group Co-Chair; Michael Hanrahan, outgoing Chief Editor; and Yue Chen, outgoing Marketing Committee Chair.

At the meeting five new members were also welcomed into the Broadband Forum: AIMS (INT) Ltd., Shenzhen Gongjin Electronics Co. Ltd., Thinxtream Technologies Pte Ltd, Industry Canada and Sckipio Technologies.
