Cyan Adds Seasoned CFO

Mike Zellner Joins Cyan After Successful Stints at PMC-Sierra, Wind River Systems, and Applied Materials

PETALUMA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/05/13 -- Cyan today announced that it has expanded its executive team with the addition of industry veteran Mike Zellner as vice president and chief financial officer. Zellner will oversee all aspects of finance and administration, including information technology. Zellner joins Cyan from PMC-Sierra where, for the past six years, he served as chief financial officer.

Cyan chairman and CEO Mark Floyd commented that, "Mike makes a terrific addition to an already strong team. His experience with large global suppliers of both software and hardware solutions will be extremely helpful as we expand internationally and grow the increasingly important software aspects of our business."

Zellner, who is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, added, "I look forward to joining Cyan and helping to continue the success the company has already enjoyed. I'm particularly intrigued by the software aspects of Cyan's solution. With software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization both gaining traction, it is clear that carriers are demanding exactly the types of solutions Cyan already offers."

Prior to PMC-Sierra, Zellner was senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Wind River Systems, a provider of device software solutions to the electronics industry. Earlier in his career, Zellner held corporate and divisional financial positions of steadily increasing responsibility at Applied Materials. While at Applied Materials, Zellner was a senior director of finance and was financially responsible for two separate high growth and very profitable business units, with revenues in excess of $1 billion. Prior to joining Applied Materials, Zellner served in various financial roles at Unisys Corporation.

A recent study by analyst firm IDC reports that in 2012, 1.7 million cloud computing-related roles across the globe could not be filled due to the lack of training, certification and experience in the applicant pool. As the global demand for cloud and big data expertise increases, employers are finding it difficult to recruit talent, which is slowing down the ability for organizations to adopt, implement, and realize benefits from innovative platforms like OpenStack. Enterprises can't close their doors just because integration tools won't cope with the volume of information that their systems produce. As each day goes by, their information will become larger and more complicated, and enterprises must constantly struggle to manage the integration of dozens (or hundreds) of systems. Apache Hadoop has quickly become the technology of choice for enterprises that need to perform complex analysis of petabytes of data, but few are aware of its potential to hand...
